Narayan Meghaji Lokhande | story of Sunday holiday?
Have you ever thought why Sunday is declared as official day for our holiday..
i think no..because we have done all our work for rest of six days and just want to rest all the day and didn't want to waste our day, we go for enjoyment.
and like to spend our time with our lovely family.
but..but
SO WHY SUNDAY IS DECLARED AS OFFICIAL HOLIDAY.....?
HERE BEGINS..!!
Basically,at the time of British rule the Indian workers had to work for all days even on Sundays.
there was no rest for them no holiday..not at all.
but Britishers have there holiday at the end of the week
At that time,
NARAYAN MEGHAJI LOKHANDE was the leader of the worker Union.
he fought the best for the right of workers.
the one thing he wanted was holiday for worker,because workers too wanted a day for rest and was necessary for every of the worker's health.
So lokhandeji got a meet with British officer on behalf of the workers.
but request was rejected.
but he continued and after his 8 years struggle he was successful to get holiday for worker.
On 10th June 1890 Sunday was declared as official holiday for workers.
After that in 2005 an official post ticket was introduced on name of Lokhandeji.
Narayan Meghaji Lokhande is also called as the father of the trade union movement in India
Also Sunday is the day for the Hindu Deva Khandobaji.
Important, In 1844 British Governor general declared Sunday as holiday for school going student to develop them self.
so by now you know the real truth of Sunday..
